John Beithan is our US operations manager. He’s been with us long enough now to become one of the team, even though we only meet on Skype. The last time we had ‘quality time’ together was when we shared our exhibit of the UltraStream at ExpoWest,. the largest natural products expo in the world.
I asked John to tell me his experience with his conversion to ‘the Alka-Way’.
“About three years ago I started working with a nutritionist because I was having some health problems. He suggested I was probably dehydrated and wanted to sell me a $4,000 electronic ionizer. I always wanted one but I just wasn’t going to spend that kind of money. It didn’t make sense. A few months later he called to let me know he’d been testing and loved his new non-electronic UltraStream natural ionizer that was priced under $700 – designed by an Australian company who had sold $4,000 ionizers, but developed the UltraStream for obvious reasons. He suggested I get one and I did.
A week and half after using the UltraStream leg cramps I had were gone. From that point forward things just got better. Over a period a few months my blood pressure dropped 30 points and today, I feel better and better every single day. It’s been 3-years now without a flu, cold or allergy problem since using the UltraStream. I’m convinced it’s the combination of good clean hydration and hydrogen rich water. Beyond that, it’s the education Alkaway provides.
I’m proud to be benefiting and working with Alkaway in Australia, a small company that continues to walk the talk of the alkaline lifestyle after sixteen years. You CAN feel better every single day. I help people with that. That’s what I do and who I am.

This time it’s not Australia, where one-year-old Cash died in April this year from what’s being called a “brain-eating parasite” that was thriving in the water at Jodi and Laine Keough’s cattle station, near Townsville, Australia This time it was in USA where a young athlete succumbed on a church trip. Lauren Seitz of Westerville, Ohio, died from a suspected case of primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM), and officials are investigating whether she contracted the infection while whitewater rafting in Charlotte during a church trip, the Charlotte Observer reported.
Before that, in August last year it was another young man in Texas.
It’s certainly not going away, and thrives in drought conditions where water may warm up, creating the perfect breeding ground.
The amoeba enters the body via the nose, and it points to the need for home filtration systems that are PROVEN to remove or reduce the possibility of entry to the body by stopping in before it gets into the home’s water pipes. This new form of water filtration technology certainly has the capability to remove it without (as was the case prior to this technology) loss in flow.
Reverse Osmosis water killing people? Yes.
There’s a whole industry feeding on our concept of pure water. And yet, we’ve never had ‘pure water’ in our whole history except, perhaps when we opened our mouths in a rain storm.
Pure water is NOT natural, and this report really shows its effect.
A new Israeli report states reverse osmosis desalinated water lacking magnesium is dangerous for heart patients and may have led to the deaths of hundreds of citizens last year. Magnesium is a critical element in more than 300 metabolic functions, but is lost through the desalination process. This is particularly problematic for Israel, as nearly 75 percent of its tap water is desalinated, more than any other country. So far the nation’s Finance Ministry and Water Authority have opposed plans to replace the pivotal mineral in drinking water, citing cost concerns.
~The Jerusalem Post
The authors noted that Israel began producing desalinated sea water in 1978 but the level has increased steeply over just the past decade. Fresh water from the Israeli National Water Carrier accumulated in underground aquifers or the Kinneret naturally have significant amounts of magnesium and calcium, they wrote, but when salt and other minerals together with it are removed from the Mediterranean’s sea water, little or none of the minerals remain. If you don’t believe us, here’s another study where scientists changed the water fed to rabbits to reduced minerals. They changed nothing else, but the result was clear.
Increased cardiovascular risk.
Reverse osmosis desalination strips all minerals from our water.
We encourage you to investigate it as a real alternative to reverse osmosis. It’s our own design, made in the US and is the most tested domestic water system available.

“A State of Emergency” — Toxic Algal Blooms in Florida and Around the Globe Choke Waterways
Waterways in Florida — and in many parts of the world — are under siege from toxic algae blooms that are killing fish, choking cities’ fresh water supplies, harming ecosystems, and cutting into recreation and tourism revenue.
Two weeks ago, fresh water estuaries near Orlando were transformed from a calm blue into a toxic, fluorescent green matt of algae, while dangerous blooms across China and India have put already stressed water supplies at risk. In Florida last week, Gov. Rick Scott declared a state of emergency in four counties and pleaded with the Obama administration to declare the region a national emergency.
We remember the blue green algae outbreak in Australia that had us importing water filters by the jumbo-load. Just one more reason to have a GOOD water filter system on hand. Like…
‘Experts’ and the public do share some opinions, but it seems to me that there are some gaping holes.
Look at this survey conducted by the New York Times.
The term was last updated in 1994, so frankly, an update is long overdue. At the same time, defining “healthy” has never been more complicated.
Countless new exotic foods have arrived on our tables over the past two decades and, (thanks to the Internet and social media), we’re now bombarded with more conflicting messages than ever about what’s ‘healthy’ and what’s not.
The New York Times chose a good time to conduct an interesting survey comparing the opinions of American citizens and hundreds of professional nutritionists on approximately 50 common foods. And of course, opinions vary greatly.
Foods that nutritionists consider much healthier than the general population does.
These include (of course!) tofu (89% of nutritionists vs. 58% of Americans), quinoa (89% vs. 58%), and hummus (90% vs. 66%).
Why such differing opinions? The NYT suggests it may be because these foods are relatively new to the mainstream American diet. Perhaps people have yet to accept them in their minds.
Foods that the American population thinks are much healthier than the experts do.
The widest gap occurred with granola bars, with 71% of the public saying they’re healthy, but only 28% of nutritionists agreeing. Similar differences exist with granola (47% of nutritionists vs. 80% of public), coconut oil (37% vs. 72%), and frozen yogurt (47% vs. 80%). Many of these foods contain added sugars, of which nutritionists may be aware, while the general population is not.
The Times reports that this will hopefully change soon:
“In May, the Food and Drug Administration announced a new template for nutrition labels, and one priority was to clearly distinguish between sugars that naturally occur in food and sugars that are added later to heighten flavors.”
Other foods about which both experts and the public disagree.
These include popcorn and a number of high-fat foods, such as steak, pork chops, whole milk, and Cheddar cheese. The split in opinions hovers between 50-60% for each group, which isn’t surprising.
“Years ago, the nutritional consensus was that fat, and particularly the saturated fat found in dairy and red meat, was bad for your heart. Newer studies are less clear, and many of the fights among nutritionists tend to be about the right amount of protein and fat in a healthy diet. The uncertainty about these foods, as expressed both by experts and ordinary Americans, reflects the haziness of the nutritional evidence about them.”
Until time and further studies reveal more information, it may be helpful to know what the nutritionists said when asked how they eat on a daily basis. When given a list of dietary descriptions, such as Atkins, Paleolithic, Organic, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, and Mediterranean, the majority (57%) said they follow “no special rules or restrictions.”
Rather than singling out and labeling certain foods as “good” or “bad,” it’s probably best to focus on eating healthily overall (and not feeling guilty for the occasional less-than-healthy treat).
Ian: What is ‘healthy’ food to you? And.. when will someone decide on what is ‘healthy’ water?
For people who want to control their weight or reduce their intakes of sugar, sodium and saturated fat, there’s something in your kitchen sink.
It seems that tap water may be what the doctor ordered.
A new study that examined the dietary habits of more than 18,300 U.S. adults found the majority of people who increased their consumption of plain water — tap water or from a cooler, drinking fountain or bottle — by 1 percent reduced their total daily calorie intake as well as their consumption of saturated fat, sugar, sodium and cholesterol.
People who increased their consumption of water by one, two or three cups daily decreased their total energy intake by 68 to 205 calories daily and their sodium intake by 78 to 235 milligrams, according to a paper by University of Illinois community health professor Ruopeng An. They also consumed 5 grams to nearly 18 grams less sugar and decreased their cholesterol consumption by 7 to 21 milligrams daily.
Here’s what he said: (and here is the report)
“The impact of plain water intake on diet was similar across race/ethnicity, education and income levels and body weight status. This finding indicates that it might be sufficient to design and deliver universal nutrition interventions and education campaigns that promote plain water consumption in replacement of beverages with calories in diverse population subgroups without profound concerns about message and strategy customization.”
In plain words?
Drink water. Lose weight.
Ian: Of course the study didn’t take into account water quality which has reared its head recently with the discovery of a vast avoidance of water quality testing in hundreds of locations across the US. here in Australia my friend and water technologist Neil Sweeney has this to say:
“I would encourage all families to get the news out about the dangers lurking in our drinking water. Encourage them to join here or read up as much as they can about the hidden risks in the water supply. Connect my page to any groups you are in if you feel I am right after reading and considering this.
For the past 2 years I have been writing articles about the dangers of Bioaccumulation in the body from Heavy Metals, Chemicals and Pharma in our Potable (Tap) Water.
If you have been following the news you will have seen, finally, this year, Sydney Water and the NSW govt are now coming clean about the dilapadated state of our ageing water pipe system and the impossible and restrictive costs placed on replacing the thousands of kilometres of 60 to 100 year old pipes in this country. The costs runs into the billions PLUS we just dont have the manpower to replace it quickly.
Have you noticed the increase in water main bursts?
So why are we JUST being told now?
The growing presence of Endocrine Disruptors in our reservoirs, the increased concentrations of pharmaceuticals, in particular; antibiotics, the development of organic super bugs and the ever-growing concentration of heavy metals from mining are polluting our catchment and dam systems in this country like never before.
This means that every time we have a heavy downpour of rain the concentration levels of bio-toxins and metals increase exponentially in the reservoirs creating new mutations at the molecular level of harmful chemicals, larger concentrations of soft and heavy metals and more virulent and resistant super bugs and microbial infestations which effect our G.I. tract, Neurological and Endocrine systems.”
Ian: We are about to field test our new UltraStream UltraH2+. It’s still in prototype but the BIG news is that we’ve been able to enhance the already excellent filtration of the present UltraStreams. It will increase its ability to filter out:
>99.9 % of viruses, (polio, rotovirus, norovirus)
>99.99% of bacteria (e-coli, legionella, pseudomonas, etc)
>99.95% cysts( giardia, cryptosporidium)
>80% Ferrous Iron
>95% Arsenic V
PCB’s and BPA
This takes the UltraStream, already an unchallenged leader in water filter and ionizer filtration, to a level unparallelled anywhere in the industry, yet still at a price ordinary people can manage.
You don’t even have to wait for the ‘new improved model’ with an UltraStream. If you order our present model, you’ll get the new model when you order a new replacement filter. That’s the joy of the UltraStream. It never gets obselete!
Dr Lynda Frassetto has been in alkaline diet and water pages all over the web for years, based on one important study she completed years ago.
Today I discovered a newly uploaded version that reiterates her basic theory; that modern man has lost the ability to maintain a healthy acid-base metabolism.
Heres the link, and here’s the most relevant excerpts from her abstract. It’s a pretty clear endorsement of the alkaline diet!
‘We propose that reducing the net acid load from the diet is not sufficient to reverse age related osteoporosis because it fails to supply base needed to restore the large amount of base in bone that had been lost by reacting with the net acid load of the diet that had been consumed for years or decades. Reducing the net acid load from the diet might be expected to have little ameliorative effect or merely slow the progression of the disorder. We hypothesize that both to restore osteoporotic bone to, or nearly to, its pre-disease state, as well as to eliminate the risk of fragility fractures, requires consuming diets that produce net amounts of base to restore the base lost from years to decades of consuming diets that produce net amounts of acid. We hypothesize also that the excess base and attendant subclinical metabolic alkalosis will both stimulate the cellular process of bone formation and suppress the cellular process of bone resorption, and thereby implement the restorative process.’
Pre-Olympic rowing and sailing events in Rio a month later resulted in a high number of illnesses among the athletes, with one Olympic sailor from Germany claiming he contracted MRSA so severe he had to undergo surgery. Some of the athletes in the test events resorted to pouring bleach on their water bottles and rinsing with antibacterial mouthwash between events. In fact, the water is so disgusting that coaches are telling sailors to wash their hands after touching wet gear during the competition. The US rowing team is even wearing special suits knitted with antimicrobial material in the hopes of reducing exposure.
Unfortunately, with the competition only weeks away, it’s far too late to move the venue to a more suitable location. Hopefully this will be a lesson for the International Olympic Committee in the future — choosing a venue with known public safety issues based on the reassurance that the problem will be solved a few years down the line is a terrible idea.

This story highlights the crossover diagnosis that I am hearing about more often. And it’s exacerbated by the prevailing attitude of the established medical fraternity to Lyme disease. The US is ahead of us here in Australia where it’s not even considered a ‘real’ disease. So I was not surprised at this article about Kris Kristofferson.
Six years ago I was suffering all of the symptoms of early onset Alzheimers. I won’t detail my experience, but if anyone is interested it’s all in the video below.
I have a closer friend whose partner suffered as much through the misdiagnosis of her Lyme’s disease as she did from the disease. Spending over $100,000 with various practitioners, but traditional and alternative, she went through a living hell not only of disease but also of the feeling of complete loss of control as diagnosis after diagnosis failed her.
We eventually gave her a bottle of I LOVE H2. She was a fitness fanatic, but of course in her state she was not even capable of her reputation as ‘The runner” that she had earned at the gym with her marathon treadmill sessions.
She’s back and running today. We can’t claim to be a part of her healing because I LOV E H2 is simple a sports supplement, but what we can say was that when she came in to see us, we just didn’t recognise this beautiful, glowing new woman.
Here’s a comment I just received from my friend, her partner on this article.
“Thanks for that Ian. Until my partner was clinically diagnosed as having Lyme Disease she simply thought she was “losing it” emotionally, mentally and physically. It’s so easy to classify a person with all these weird symptoms and expressions as simply hyperchondriac, especially because of the amount of anxiety, depression and endless fatigue that come with such a shut down of the endocrine system.”
Mindfulness is the inherent trait of being aware of one’s present thoughts and feelings.
In a new study of 399 people that measured health indicators including mindfulness and blood glucose, researchers found that those with higher scores for mindfulness were significantly more likely than people with low scores to have healthy glucose levels.
The results show an association and do not prove a cause, but they are part of a program led by Brown University where researchers are studying whether interventions that increase mindfulness can improve cardiovascular health. Their overarching hypotheses are that people practicing higher degrees of mindfulness may be better able to motivate themselves to exercise, to resist cravings for high-fat, high-sugar treats, and to stick with diet and exercise regimens recommended by their doctors.
The researchers therefore sought to identify factors that might explain the connection they saw between higher mindfulness and healthier glucose levels. Their analysis of the data showed that obesity risk (mindful people are less likely to be obese) and sense of control (mindful people are more likely to believe they can change many of the important things in their life) both contribute to the link.
“This study demonstrated a significant association of dispositional mindfulness with glucose regulation, and provided novel evidence that obesity and sense of control may serve as potential mediators of this association,” wrote the authors led by Eric Loucks, assistant professor of epidemiology in the Brown University School of Public Health. “As mindfulness is likely a modifiable trait, this study provides preliminary evidence for a fairly novel and modifiable potential determinant of diabetes risk.”
The study, published in the American Journal of Health Behavior, did not show a direct, statistically significant link between mindfulness and type 2 diabetes risk, which is the medical concern related to elevated blood glucose. Participants with high levels of mindfulness were about 20 percent less likely to have type 2 diabetes, but the total number of people in the study with the condition may have been too small to allow for definitive findings, Loucks said.
Measuring mindfulness, gauging glucose
To gather their data, Loucks and his team enrolled 399 volunteers who’ve been participating in the New England Family Study. The subjects participated in several psychological and physiological tests including glucose tests and the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), a 15-item questionnaire to assess dispositional mindfulness on a 1 to 7 scale. The researchers also collected data on a host of other potentially relevant demographic and health traits including body-mass index, smoking, education, depression, blood pressure, perceived stress, and sense of control.
After adjusting their data to account for such confounding factors as age, sex, race or ethnicity, family history of diabetes, and childhood socioeconomic status, the researchers found that people with high MAAS scores of 6 or 7 were 35 percent more likely to have healthy glucose levels under 100 milligrams per deciliter than people with low MAAS scores below 4.
The analysis found that obesity made about a 3-percentage point difference of the total 35-percent point risk difference. Sense of control accounted for another 8 percentage points of the effect. The rest may derive from factors the study didn’t measure, but at least now researchers have begun to elucidate the possible mechanisms that link mindfulness to glucose regulation.
“There’s been almost no epidemiological observational study investigations on the relationship of mindfulness with diabetes or any cardiovascular risk factor,” Loucks said. “This is one of the first. We’re getting a signal. I’d love to see it replicated in larger sample sizes and prospective studies as well.”

Most people don’t think even contemplate that things that we use on daily basis can be dangerous to our health. We don’t want you to upset you, but it may be good to be aware of the potential dangers that you consume or use every day. We absorb thousands of chemicals into our bodies from personal hygiene paper and other products. Think about it. We even wipe our faces, hands and intimate areas with these products, exposing our bodies to harmful chemicals and toxins over and into our bodies repeatedly. We think we’re limiting the risk of disease, not increasing it.
Everyone will go for the softest and the whitest loo paper possible. Unfortunately chlorine is the most toxic for your body. The amazing fact that there are 100.000 chemicals used in commercial paper products: baby wipes, paper towels, coffee filters, milk cartons, etc is, frankly, mindblowing.
The most dangerous of these toxins is chlorine. Along with other chemicals, these substances enter through our skin, get into our blood and can cause serious illnesses. Chlorine is dangerous in a way that forms dangerous toxins dioxin and furans.
It’s common knowledge that toilet paper is made from wood. Logically, it should be brown. Why is it so white then?
Because we think white equals clean!
Paper industries use chlorine and chlorine dioxide to bleach it. Some scientists have said that bleached paper is the most carcinogenic chemical known to science. These chemicals react with organic molecules in the wood and other fibers to create many toxic byproducts, including dioxin. The term dioxin is often used to include three acutely toxic chemical groups: true dioxins, furans and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). All these are responsible for many health problems such as cancer, hormone imbalances, immune system impairments, reduced fertility and birth defects. Chlorinated toilet paper contains highest amount of furans of all cosmetic tissues, and is one of the most toxic human-made chemicals. The scary thing is that dioxins accumulate in our body overtime because it cannot be excreted, and causes dangerous health situation. Studies have found correlations between high workplace exposure to dioxins and increased risk of cancer.
Other Harmful Chemicals in Toilet Paper
There are other chemicals in toilet paper thatweu are wiping onto our bodies and which are known to be carcinogenic:
– Bisphenol A (BPA) – concentration is proven to be very high in paper products, including recycled toilet paper.
– Formaldehyde – used ”to improve the wet-strength and other ‘important’ characteristics of paper and paper products”.
What To do? What to do?
You need to read the labels on your toilet tissue too.
Here’s what to look for:
– Brown or beige paper! Toilet paper brown or beige in color is usually made without bleach but lacks softness and comfort.
– BPA-free paper products that have not been recycled and have not, therefore, ever been exposed to chlorinated bleach.
– TCF (Totally Chlorine-Free items). Look for toilet paper marked TCF which is non-recycled paper bleached with oxygen, ozone, or hydrogen or
– PCF (Processed Chlorine-Free), recycled paper bleached with oxygen, ozone or hydrogen peroxide, therefore, processed chlorine-free.
– Avoid paper marker ECF (Elemental Chlorine-Free) which may contain higher levels of toxicity.
Look, chlorine has been introduced to us ina time when the idea of long term accumulation of toxicity in the body simply wasn’t spoken of. Today we know better.
BTW, chlorine has a nasty relative, chloramines, which is a half breed; half chlorine, half ammonia. It’s used by m,ore and more water facilities because: (a) it’s cheaper and (b) it stays in the water better than chlorine. So if you are chasing a water filter that is relevant to the water challenges we have today, ask if it removes chloramines as well. Most don’t.
If you can’t be bothered sifting through the hundreds on the market you can go for the best here.
Will Smith, one of our fave Hollywood identities since ‘The Fresh Price of Belair’ has put his backing into a new biodegradable water bottle.
The website shows all the usual sweetness and light natural images… and yes, we applaud any effort to reduce the plastic avalanche of the ubiquitious water bottle. But…
Is it really an answer?
Is any throw away water bottle an answer? Perhaps a paper water bottle is better, but there’s still no recycling, as we have with a simple stainless or glass water bottle that we fill with our lovely AlkaWay water at home – pure, hydrogen-rich and alkaline?
Will, we’d love to talk to you about really changing the way we drink water. Call me.
Identify and Eliminate Silent Inflammation Now.
Silent inflammation is a growing problem among all Westerners, especially as they grow older. Perhaps yours was caused by medications, alcohol, poor diet, toxic metals, chlorine or stress.
Do nothing about it and you may be leaving yourself open to more complicated health issues and diseases. If you already have any adverse symptoms that just refuse to leave, think about taking these steps to identify, eliminate and prevent body inflammation.
Identify the Symptoms
Chronic fatigue, recurring sinus infections, gastrointestinal issues, mood disorders and chronic vaginal and urinary tract infections are common symptoms. Add to that headaches, dizziness, achy joints and sensitivity to chemicals used in perfumes, cleaning agents and pesticides. Your medico may recommend medications like Nystatin to eliminate external yeast, but it doesn’t always treat internal inflammatory sufficiently. This is the same with joint pain. Ibuprofen may relieve elbow or knee pain, but it’s isn’t designed to eliminate it.
Systemic yeast AKA candida Albicans, a natural yeast-like fungus that occurs not just on the skin but in the digestive tract. Causes could be a poor diet, corticosteroids or stress. These can increase the levels of candida Albicans in your body and cause it to overtake the natural bacteria in your system. This condition is known as candidiasis, which can be the cause of many of the symptoms listed above. Many natural medicine practitioners say that if left untreated, candida overgrowth can even lead to various autoimmune diseases, such as fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivities, chronic fatigue syndrome and even multiple sclerosis.
Check Your Diet
According to Dr Oz, one of the best ways to eliminate systemic yeast and reduce silent body inflammation is to start eating more alkaline foods.
You may like to look at reducing your intake of foods that are highly acidic, including dairy, white bread, oats, brown rice, cheese, pasta, sugar and beer. Most meats are also highly acidic, but the secret to success is to increase your alkaline food intake to counteract the acidic effects of the meats you eat. Thus, a balanced diet of less meats, vegetables, fruits, and nuts can help reduce inflammation in your body. Even better, go gluten-free with your diet. Gluten foods, which contain wheat, rye or barley, tend to increase systemic yeast, especially for those who have allergies to gluten-laden foods.

What we define as ‘clean‘ may not be so great for our bodies.
We can.. if we choose, rethink our approach to personal hygiene. Shower for 20 minutes every day and live to be 100, and you’ll spend 12,167 hours of your life washing yourself. That’s a long, long time to run a tap. Expensive, too. Then there’s the health problem. Although you might think you’re clean, reeking of perfumed body wash, you’re actually not. Showers are overrated, according to James Hamblin, senioreditor at The Atlantic and medical doctor. As part of a video series called “If Our Bodies Could Talk,” Hamblin has spent the last three episodes focusing on the human microbiome. The last episode, called “You Probably Don’t Need To Shower,” challenges the notion that we need to be constantly cleaning our skin. There is a microbial ecosystem that lives on our skin. As scientists learn more about the relationship between this system and our health, it leads to questions about the wisdom of scrubbing away the bacteria on a daily basis with powerful detergents. Not only does soap eradicate the bacterial populations, but it also creates fluctuating cycles of dryness and oiliness that make us shower and slather on chemicals even more. In the episode, Hamblin speaks with journalist Julia Scott, who went one month without any kind of skin care products and sprayed herself with live bacteria in order to rebalance her skin’s microbial populations. Hamblin also interviewed Dr. Larry Weiss, head of AOBiome, a company that develops the soap-alternative made of Nitrosomonas eutropha bacteria that Scott used. Microbiologist Martin Blaser, who bathes instead of showers, tells Hamblin that there are good bugs and bad bugs: the good ones helps us to live our lives, whereas removing the bad ones may not be doing us any favors. Hamblin decided to give showerless-living a try:
“At first, I was an oily, smelly beast. The odor of bodies is the product of bacteria that live on our skin and feed off of the oily secretions from the sweat and sebaceous glands at the base of our hair follicles. Applying detergents (soaps) to our skin and hair every day disrupts a sort of balance between skin oils and the bacteria that live on our skin. When you shower aggressively, you obliterate the ecosystems. They repopulate quickly, but the species are out of balance and tend to favor the kinds of microbes that produce odor. “But after a while, the idea goes, your ecosystem reaches a steady state, and you stop smelling bad. I mean, you don’t smell like rosewater or Axe Body Spray, but you don’t smell like B.O., either. You just smell like a person.”
While most of us may not be ready to go completely shower-free, there is certainly value in rethinking one’s approach. At the very least, detoxify the products you use, opting for gentler, greener cleansers. Shower less aggressively, without scrubbing at your skin. Use less soap; try the ‘pits and bits’ tactic, soaping only in those key places, while sticking with plain water on the rest of your body. Wash your hair less. (Switching to the ‘no poo’ method allows me to stretch my hair for 5-6 days in between washings.) As Grist reports humorously, one mystery still remains that Hamblin has not yet clarified: Is he single? Want to save the water without sacrificing your ‘long shower experience? Go here and save up to70% of your water

We’re neither qualified nor willing to make claims of therapeutic benefits attributed to the therapeutic use of Molecular hydrogen. However we are happy to publish or reference new studies that shed light on H2’s amazing breadth of effect. One that stood out for us was a scientific study on the effect of Molecular hydrogen on Parkinson’s Disease. This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human pilot study. Here in Australia – and in most of the world.. we are simply amazed at the Trump phenomenon.
Why, why, why have so many Americans agreed with Mr Trump’s simplistic approach to politics? Everyone I speak to in countries across the globe just shake their heads in disbelief.
We cannot believe what appears to be the obvious answer. That perhaps Americans are er.. DUMBER than the rest of the world. However, in a world where disabilities are more understood than ever before.. perhaps we can begin to understand that there IS a reason for this rise of what looks terribly like that movie ‘Idiocracy‘. And the reason may be something as simple as the water most Americans drink. Especially those in what are termed ‘low socioeconomic areas’. The clues are there for anyone who wants to join the dots. Wasn’t the terrible disaster in Flint, a ‘lower socioeconomic area? Didn’t it happen because there was no money in the coffers for an adequate and functional water supply system? Lead took a terrible toll on Flint residents when city fathers took the easy way out. And now we learn that at least 200 American cities have water supplies exceeding safe levels of lead. Lead.. a proven brain affecting heavy metal. Of course, if you think this doesn’t relate to you AND you are backing Mr Trump, well.. how does one tell another person that they can’t think straight because they can’t think straight because they have drunk the wrong water all of their life? I am not even going to try. But here’s the really funny thing. If Donald trump gets to take up residence in the White House, guess what he’ll be drinking?
“In 2013, The Washington Post reported that the city’s water contamination problem had returned, noting that the unborn were being hit particularly hard: Late-term miscarriages and spontaneous abortions occurred at an unusually high rate among Washington women from 2000 through 2003 — during the same time frame that lead levels were dangerously high in the city’s drinking water, a study has found. The study findings, which are scheduled to be published in the journal Environmental Science and Technology, do not prove that the city’s lead crisis caused fetal deaths or miscarriages. But the results show a significant correlation between the two events.”
Yep, he’ll be drinking the water that made him President.
If this does ring a bell for you, here’s a 2 minute quiz that may help you see whether you have lead poisoning. Remember, lead in water is a relatively low concentration. Instead of overnight symptoms, the change for the worse will creep up on you, so you won’t even realise you’ve changed.
I should add that lead poisoning isn’t restricted to America’s ailing water reticulation system. All countries have the same problem where the ‘normal’ water piping was lead, then of course, in the home, we had copper, with heavy metals in the brazing used to join them. And don’t expect President Trump – or Clinton -to fix it. It’s a multi trillion dollar problem. Have a look at this good summary from Fortune magazine.
Our Thyroid is located in the anterior neck. It’s one of the largest endocrine glands in the human body that manages sensitivity to other hormones. It’s also responsible for the rate of use from energy sources and protein synthesis. So.. if we are hoping for a long healthy life perhaps it’s worth five minutes to learn what it DOESN’T like.
Our ‘normal daily life gives our poor one-and-only thyroid a hard time. If we feel sluggish, fatigued, anxious, and just can’t lose weight perhaps you can look at getting your thyroid back up to normal power. Unfortunately, there’s no simple on-switch or ‘Booster’ switch. So.. What are the Things Causing a Sluggish Thyroid? Water? Yes, modern municipal water. We just learned that over 200 US cities have excess lead in their pipes. Lead is a heavy metal. And as time passes there are many others appearing in our stressed reticulated water systems, including mercury. Frankly, it’s hardly worth listing them because the EPA has identified 600 suspect ‘new’ contaminants that have no known remedial strategy. We can, of course clean up our water, and after the Flint tragedy it’s hard to understand anyone in the USA not having a water filter, especially considering the water technology that exists now to eliminate heavy metals, pharmaceuticals and endocrine disruptors. What Else? Stress is a major player in damaging our thyroid. (As we know, stress is also heavily acidifying) When we are consistently stressed out, our body produces high levels of cortisol, a powerful stress hormone. naturally, your adrenals are overloaded and the relationship between your thyroid and adrenals go hand-to-hand. Best thing to do is manage your stress in this situation and use natural herbs, essential oils, or meditation to calm yourself down. Fluoride is heavily used in drinking water and toothpastes. It affect our body by slowing down thyroid activity. Studies have shown that medications that contain fluoride actually lower functions of over active thyroids. What Else? (How long is a piece of String)? There are many, many environmental factors thatimpact the thyroid gland. Some of these dangerous chemicals are used on a daily basis as well for certain fields of work.
- Pesticides which induces glucuronidation of (T4). This chemical also reduces (T4) half-life.
- Isoflavones which are commonly found in soy products are inhibitors of thyroid peroxidase.
- Potassium Perchlorate – used in explosives such as fireworks, rocket propellant, and vehicle airbags inhibits iodine uptake. This dangerous substance is used all over the U.S. and has been known to contaminate water sources.
- Even cigarette smoke has effects to this due to the thiocyanates of the smoke itself.
With so many toxins bombarding everyone in this modern society we live in, these 3 minutes you took reading this can be converted into one action that will, in my belief, gift you YEARS of health. I never forgot to old saying: “Most people spend more on their health in their last year than in the whole of the rest of their lives.”

I’m sure all of our readers are aware that we DO NOT make claims of therapeutic effect from the purchase of our H2 products. After 16 years we know – and understand that – especially in the case of cancer, anyone claiming they can cure cancer knows precious little about the disease, which has at least 200 ‘faces’, all with different symptoms and regimens. So we make no claims that the UltraStream can heal anything. What we do, however, is encourage readers to do the research themselves. including accessing the hundreds of scientific studies already available. This study showing the results for colon cancer in mice is NOT a human study and so it’s your choice of how much weight you give it. We always encourage you to check in with your medico before ANY change to your health regime. Here’s the study. The interesting thing to me is that it validates what we’ve experienced; that a higher concentration of H2 is a better method.
A good customer of ours rang after looking at a video from another water alkalizer company regarding fluoride. I thought the easiest way to help her was to look at the video and comment. In it I discuss whether activated alumina, our fluoride reduction media of choice, works as we say it does. Here are a few links that support our theory! Full paper on fluoride and pH. This includes the graph you can see in the video. This graph shows the relationship between concentration of fluoride and pH. General discussion and specs on the use of AA here And here is the link to the patent by the inventor of activated alumina.
Keith Hackett lives in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. He’s a happy UltraStream user. Keith rang me yesterday.. “I went to a naturopath for a hair analysis to learn what toxins I may have in my body. I got a call from her with the results. She was amazed. I had NO toxins show up. She had never seen a test like this. I am 88. My wife is 82 and loves the water too. If anyone wants to chat, I’m happy to.” Learn more about UltraStream here
Firstly, we need to look at whether we are talking about ‘alkaline food’ or alkaline-supporting food. There are very, very few alkaline foods, but many foods that support us to alkalize in the body. This covers many interpretations, from the production of sodium bicarbonate in the stomach, to improved support against acidifying inflammation. So I’m suggesting water cress is firmly placed in group two.
Watercress: Carcinogen Chaser.
Watercress is an often-overlooked, leafy green food source. It’s a close cousin of mustard greens, cabbage, and arugula. And.. it’s a powerful anti-carcinogen. It can help starve tumours of essential blood and oxygen significantly inhibiting the activation of carcinogens.
“Cigarette smokers are at far greater risk than the general public for developing lung cancer, and helping smokers quit should be our top cancer prevention priority in these people,” said Jian-Min Yuan, M.D., Ph.D., associate director of the UPCI’s Division of Cancer Control and Population Science and an epidemiologist with Pitt’s Graduate School of Public Health. “But nicotine is very addictive, and quitting can take time and multiple relapses. Having a tolerable, nontoxic treatment, like watercress extract, that can protect smokers against cancer would be an incredibly valuable tool in our cancer-fighting arsenal.”
Dr. Yuan, who also is Pitt’s Arnold Palmer Endowed Chair in Cancer Prevention, and his colleagues enrolled 82 cigarette smokers in the randomized clinical trial. The participants either took 10 milligrams of watercress extract mixed in 1 milliliter of olive oil four times a day for a week or they took a placebo. Each group of participants then had a one week “wash-out” period where they didn’t take anything and then switched so that those getting the placebo now received the extract. They all continued their regular smoking habits throughout the trial. In one week, the watercress extract reduced activation of the carcinogen known as nicotine-derived nitrosamine ketone in the smokers by an average of 7.7 percent. It increased detoxification of benzene by 24.6 percent and acrolein by 15.1 percent, but had no effect on crotonaldehyde. All the substances are found in cigarette smoke. Participants who lacked two genes involved in a genetic pathway that helps the antioxidant glutathione remove carcinogens and toxicants from the body saw an even bigger benefit to taking the watercress extract, which increased their detoxification of benzene by 95.4 percent, acrolein by 32.7 percent and crotonaldehyde by 29.8 percent. A phase III clinical trial in hundreds of people must be performed before the treatment could be recommended for smokers, and Dr. Yuan warned that while eating cruciferous vegetables, such as watercress and broccoli, are good for people, they are unlikely to have the same pronounced effect as the extract.

So if this is you– read on, learn how your detoxification system works, and how to support it!
Our body has the ability to naturally “spring clean” every day if your diet has adequately supplies for the process. There’s no special juice cleanse needed! A liver detox sans expensive powders and supplements is safer, more effective, and gentler than a detox diet of pills’n’powders. Eating whole foods instead of supplements and powders gives your body something it knows as normal and natural. It contains a broad spectrum of nutrients to DRIVE your detox!
LIVER DETOX: IT’S LIKE DOING YOUR LAUNDRY
- FILTRATION. A good baseline of nutrients help our liver to filter our blood and to be able to carry out its natural function of identifying both good things (food and nutrients) and bad things (toxins and harmful substances). Think of it as finding stains in your laundry.
- PHASE ONE DETOX. Next, our body uses food-based enzymes and nutrients to transform toxins, used hormones, RX drugs, food additives, etc. The pupose of this phase is to commence neutralizing a toxin and to turn it into a water soluble compound capable of leaving the body. At this half way point, toxin reactivity actually increases. This can cause problems if it doesn’t continue to Phase 2 right away. Think of Phase 1 detoxification as a ‘pre-wash cycle’.
- PHASE TWO DETOX. Phase 2 acts upon phase 1. It’s the final transformation stage of the toxin, making it water-soluble for removal from the body. Amino acids (building blocks of protein) drive this stage, as they attach to the toxins to further neutralize and escort them out of the body. (Note that the widest range of amino acids comes from grassfed meat!) Think of Phase 2 as our ‘main wash cycle’. It does the hard work of removing dirt and debris before leaving your clothes clean.
- ELIMINATION. Lastly, the toxins are eliminated via the digestive track in bile, or via the kidneys in urine. It’s very like the drain and spin cycle.
LIVER DETOX POWDERS AND SUPPLEMENTS
My problem with liver detox supplements and protein powders is the lack of any guarantee of quality. They may contain irritating additives and fillers, and most of the raw materials are imported without scant regulation of safety and purity. These foods are also often “refined” so much of the nutritional value is stripped out during processing. These Empty foods scan compromise your detoxification abilities, causing you to retain toxins rather than excrete them. When you invest in whole foods, your body is energized with nutrients ‘made’ for supporting liver detox. You are – ultimately – the sum of your habits so… what you choose for eat matters. It’s definitely NOT what you do or don’t consume for 16-48 hours. I like the bigger picture: fueling and meeting your body’s needs on a daily basis! Your daily diet should automatically support the liver detox process– not a ritual you do 1-2 times a year. When we read articles on the net they seem to be very focused on eating “less” and “dieting” (cleanses/detox diets can reinforce that) andit seems people actually end up needing far MORE food than they think (and that nutritional deficiencies actually down-regulate the appetite further). In the end, we all want our body to just WORK better, and naturally detox more efficiently as a normal part of metabolism. Liquid fasts and cleanses Proteins DRIVE the detoxification process, so.. cleanses based on juices, fruits or vegetables really don’t make a lot of sense. Don’t leave! I know many of you love the juice fast idea.. it’s only my opinion! Any time you fast or cleanse (with the exception of when you have the flu!) you are forcing a regimen on your body. This often means ignoring your own body needs, cravings, and intuition. Dr Ray Peat said: “Any craving is a good starting point, because we have several biological mechanisms for correcting specific nutritional deficiencies.” If someone is in a hypo-metabolic state (slowed metabolism), the body naturally holds on to more water in tissues, craves less water, and craves more salt and solid food. A liquid cleanse would do much more harm than good. Whether you decide on a cleanse or not, don’tforget that your body always talks to you about what it needs. Learning to listen is an amazing tool for building your body connection so that you can feed and support your body’s natural detoxification system.
LIVER DETOX FOODS YOU MAY NOT BE GETTING
FRUIT: The vitamins and minerals in fruits drive phase 1 of detoxification! Costly detox diets and cleansing routines are a waste of money compared to organic fruits and fruit juices to fuel this first phase of detoxification so much more efficiently! Yes, I know – we’ve often talked about the hazards of excess fructose but in this case the need is specifically to begin the detox phase one. Choose ripe seasonal fruits high in vitamin C for maximum antioxidant effect. Some great choices are organic oranges, pure orange juice , kiwis, berries, papaya, and pineapple. BEETS: Beets are serious liver detox food. They help thin your bile, helping us to detox more efficiently. A common liver problem manifests as sluggish/stagnant bile flow. Toxins neutralized in the liver are dumped into the bile (our bile duct is a toxins ‘drainpipe’) When the bile gets too thick, toxins can’t flow out of our body quick enough (leading to fatigue, low energy, constipation, PMS, toxicity and disease)! Regular beet consumption (and a nutritionally wealthy diet) can help strengthen this process naturally! Buy beets and shred them in your food processor. Try a little beet slaw (with lemon or apple cider vinegar, salt and olive oil) daily or as often as you like to help fuel your natural detoxification system! NON- INFLAMMATORY PROTEINS: Vegetarians, you may not like this section, but here we go. Our body needs a certain balance of amino acids to support our bodily functions, particularly liver detox. The balance we need is achieved when we eat “the whole animal” and ALL of its parts. When you eat just muscle meats regularly, including chicken, pork, beef, lamb, you tend to create an amino acid balance in the body that favors inflammation, and hey. it actually starves your liver! It is really important to balance the amino acid spectrum we consume. Non-inflammatory proteins such as eggs, fish, gelatin, dairy products (milk, cheese), shellfish, and organ meats are excellent choices to increase in our diet to better support your detoxification capabilities. Try having muscle meats every other day if your intake of non-inflammatory proteins is low. One of my favorite ways to make this easy is to have some bone broth every day.
